Books-A-Million Gift Card Balance — Check Your BAM Card
Books-A-Million checks gift card balances on booksamillion.com with the card number and the PIN under the scratch-off. BAM also has a documented route for the awkward case — a card whose PIN is missing entirely.
Check Books-A-Million balance on official siteBooks-A-Million, or BAM, sells books, manga, toys and café drinks across the southern and midwestern US, and its cards spend in store and at booksamillion.com. There are two related products: gift cards and eGift certificates, and they are checked in the same place.
Checking your balance
- Open the Books-A-Million gift card balance page (linked above), or sign in at booksamillion.com and choose Gift Card Balance.
- Enter the gift card number.
- Enter the PIN from beneath the scratch-off panel on the back.
- Submit to see what is left.
Signed-in customers can also reach it through their account: Manage Payment → Gift Card Balance, which keeps the card on the account for later orders.
No PIN on the card? There is an actual fix
This is where BAM differs from most retailers. If your card has no PIN — an older card, or one where the panel was destroyed — Books-A-Million asks you to contact [email protected] so the remaining balance can be transferred to a new card. That is a real remedy rather than a dead end, and it is worth using instead of writing the card off.
In store and by phone
Any BAM cashier can check a card at the register, including at the Joe Muggs café counter, and customer service takes balance questions by phone. In store is the fastest option for a card you are carrying anyway.
When the balance looks wrong
Confirm you are entering the card number and not the order number from a confirmation email. Paste eGift codes from the email rather than retyping them. A card bought minutes ago may not be active yet.
Zero balance on an untouched card
Books are cheap enough that a card empties across several small visits rather than one, so check receipts and household spending before assuming an error. A genuinely unused card reading zero points at activation, and the purchase receipt is what BAM needs to trace it.
If you are not going to read your way through it
A BAM balance is easy to leave for later and then forget. You can sell the value through FlipGift escrow and keep the card in your own hands the whole time: a buyer's money is locked in escrow before anything is ordered, you place their Books-A-Million order yourself, and the escrow pays you once it is delivered. Both sides split a flat 2.5% fee and sellers typically keep 72–88% of face value — no code shared, nothing to drain.
