Carhartt Gift Card Balance — and the WIP Mix-Up

Carhartt and Carhartt WIP are different businesses, and their gift cards are handled by different teams. Check which one you are holding before you spend twenty minutes on the wrong form.

Carhartt or Carhartt WIP?

Carhartt is the American workwear company. Carhartt WIP — Work In Progress — is a separate European-run streetwear operation using the same heritage. They share a name and very little else operationally, including gift cards.

  • A Carhartt card is managed on carhartt.com, with the balance tool on the gift card page.
  • A Carhartt WIP card or store credit is handled by their own team at [email protected], not by the Carhartt line below.

Reading the small print on the card tells you which you have in about five seconds and saves a wasted call.

Checking a Carhartt balance

Open the gift card page on carhartt.com (linked above), enter the card number and PIN, and the balance is returned. You can also:

  • call 1-800-833-3118;
  • ask at the register in a Carhartt store, which reads the card directly.

Workwear is bought when it wears out

Jackets, bibs and boots are replaced on a schedule that has nothing to do with when the card was given — a card from December is genuinely useful in October. Nothing about waiting costs you value; just note the balance somewhere so the card does not get forgotten in a truck console.

When the lookup fails

Confirm you are on the Carhartt form rather than the WIP one. Read the number off the card in decent light — these cards live in workshops, and printed numbers wear. Give a newly purchased card a few hours to activate, and check that you are entering the card number rather than an order reference.

Zero balance on a card that should have value

Work clothing empties a card in one or two purchases rather than gradually, so start with the order that might have used it. If the card is genuinely untouched, the purchase receipt is what customer service needs to trace activation.

If the gear is not what you need

Sizing on workwear is opinionated, and a card for a fit that does not suit you is money standing still. On FlipGift you can sell a Carhartt balance through escrow while keeping the card: the buyer's payment is escrowed before anything is ordered, you place their Carhartt order with your own card, and escrow pays you once it is delivered. Both sides split a flat 2.5% fee and sellers typically keep 72–88% of face value.

Carhartt gift card balance — FAQ

Is a Carhartt WIP gift card the same as a Carhartt gift card?

No. Carhartt WIP is a separate business, and its gift cards and store credit are handled at [email protected] rather than through Carhartt customer service.

How do I check a Carhartt gift card balance?

Use the balance tool on the gift card page at carhartt.com with the card number and PIN, call 1-800-833-3118, or ask at a Carhartt store register.

What is the Carhartt gift card phone number?

Call 1-800-833-3118 with the card number to hand.

Can a Carhartt store check my balance without the PIN?

Yes. The register reads the card itself, which is the route when a PIN panel is worn or damaged.

Can a Carhartt gift card be used online and in store?

Yes, Carhartt gift cards can be used at carhartt.com and in Carhartt stores.

Is checking a Carhartt balance free?

Yes, on all routes, and the enquiry does not reduce the card.

Can I sell a Carhartt gift card?

Yes, through FlipGift escrow — the code stays with you, you fulfil a buyer's Carhartt order, and escrow pays you on confirmed delivery, typically 72–88% of face value.

Don’t need your Carhartt card?

Sell it via FlipGift escrow — the code stays with you the whole time. You redeem the card yourself to deliver the buyer’s order, and the buyer’s money is held until delivery is confirmed. Sellers typically net 72–88% of face value.
