Samsung Gift Card Balance — Usually a Wallet Card

Most things people call a "Samsung gift card" are cards held inside Samsung Wallet. The balance shows in the app — unless the merchant withholds it.

Establish what you are holding

Three different things get called a Samsung gift card, and they are checked in three different places:

  • A gift card stored in Samsung Wallet — usually a third-party merchant card you added to the app. This is the common case.
  • Promotional credit on a Samsung account, issued with a purchase or a trade-in, which lives on the account rather than on a card.
  • A card for Samsung products bought from another retailer, which belongs to that retailer's programme.

Checking a card in Samsung Wallet

Open Samsung Wallet, tap All, then Payment cards. Open the Gift tab and tap the card you want. The balance appears on the card's detail screen, and the Refresh icon updates it.

The caveat Samsung states plainly

The balance usually displays in Wallet — but some merchants do not share that information. When that happens the app is not broken; the data simply is not being provided. Samsung's own guidance is to check the gift card's terms or contact the merchant directly, which is the right move rather than reinstalling anything.

Trade-in credit is not a gift card

Samsung's promotions frequently issue credit toward a future purchase. That is an account-level balance with its own expiry and conditions, and it is not read from the Wallet gift tab. Read the promotion's own terms.

When the balance will not show

Refresh the card first. Then confirm which of the three things above you are holding — that single question resolves most of these. If it is a merchant card whose issuer does not share balances, go to the merchant.

If the device is not being bought

Credit toward a phone you decided against is money standing still, and promotional credit in particular can carry an expiry. On FlipGift you can sell a Samsung balance through escrow while it is still spendable: a buyer's payment is held in escrow, you place their Samsung order yourself, and escrow releases your cash on confirmed delivery. A flat 2.5% fee is split between both sides, and sellers typically keep 72–88% of face value.

Samsung gift card balance — FAQ

How do I check a gift card balance in Samsung Wallet?

Open Samsung Wallet, tap All, then Payment cards, open the Gift tab and tap the card. The balance shows on the detail screen, and the Refresh icon updates it.

Why does my Samsung Wallet card show no balance?

Samsung states that some merchants do not share balance information. The app is not broken — check the card's terms or contact the merchant.

Is Samsung promotional credit the same as a gift card?

No. Credit issued with a purchase or trade-in lives on the account with its own terms and expiry, and is not read from the Wallet gift tab.

I bought a Samsung gift card from another retailer — where do I check it?

With that retailer. A card sold by another shop belongs to that shop's programme rather than to Samsung Wallet.

Do I need the Samsung account the card was added to?

Yes. A card added to Wallet is visible from the account and device it was added on.

Does checking cost anything?

No, and it does not reduce the card.

Can I sell a Samsung gift card or credit?

Yes, through FlipGift escrow — worth doing early if it is promotional credit with an expiry. You fulfil a buyer's order and escrow pays you on delivery, typically 72–88% of face value.

Don’t need your Samsung card?

Sell it via FlipGift escrow — the code stays with you the whole time. You redeem the card yourself to deliver the buyer’s order, and the buyer’s money is held until delivery is confirmed. Sellers typically net 72–88% of face value.
