DoorDash: order for less with someone else's gift card
Updated September 29, 2026 · Reviewed by Kirill Novikov, FlipGift founder
Get your DoorDash order delivered for less than the app charges: a seller who holds a DoorDash gift card places it for you with the card, and escrow pays them only once you have the food. DoorDash cards trade at roughly 10–15% off — they are platform credit, so sellers hold them in larger amounts than restaurant-specific cards.
How DoorDash orders work here
The seller places your order in the DoorDash app, paid with DoorDash credit from their gift card — any restaurant, grocery or convenience store DoorDash delivers from in your area. DoorDash gift cards can also cover the delivery fee, the service fee and the Dasher tip, so the whole cart can run on the card.
DoorDash lets the seller schedule delivery for a later time at most restaurants, so a scheduled order works: pick a slot at least 90 minutes out and up to 7 days ahead.
Who the courier calls
On DoorDash the Dasher calls and texts the account holder — the seller, not you. Your drop-off note (gate code, floor, "leave at the door") is what the Dasher reads, and anything else comes through the deal chat, which the seller relays.
What you pay
Typical DoorDash orders: a Chipotle bowl, a sushi order, a late-night pharmacy run. You pay the app's total minus the discount you pick, plus a 2.5% fee, from your FlipGift balance. The food hub has the whole flow, step by step, and how tips, fees and substitutions are settled.
