How to Check Your Google Play Gift Card Balance

Check your Google Play balance in seconds. Google Play credit lives in your Google account, not on a scratch card — here's how to redeem a code and see your balance.

Google Play works differently from a store gift card: there's no card-number-and-PIN checker. Instead, the code loads into your Google account and shows as a spendable balance.

1. Open play.google.com/redeem or the Play Store app (button above) while signed in.
2. Enter the code from the back of the gift card (scratch off the panel first).
3. The credit is added to your Google Play balance immediately.
4. To see it later, open the Play Store menu and tap Payments & subscriptions > Budget & order history, or check Payment methods.

Google Play balance shows $0?

Once redeemed, credit sticks to the account that entered the code — it can't be moved to another Google account, and there's no way to reverse a redemption. A $0 reading usually means the balance was already spent on apps, games, in-app purchases, movies or books, or that the code was redeemed on a different account than the one you're viewing. Check that you're signed into the right Google account.

What to do with Google Play credit you won't use

Google Play balance can't be cashed out or transferred, so the practical move is to spend it: apps, games, in-app currency, books, or movie rentals all draw from it. If someone in your household shares the account, they can use it too.
