Hibbett Gift Card Balance — Including City Gear Cards
If you are holding a City Gear card, this is the right page: those cards moved to Hibbett in 2025 and now redeem at Hibbett stores and on hibbett.com. Balances are checked by phone or at a register.
City Gear cards became Hibbett cards
Hibbett acquired City Gear, and the gift card programme followed. Under the City Gear card terms, cards were redeemable at participating City Gear stores until 31 May 2025 and online at citygear.com until 26 May 2025; thereafter they are redeemable at stores operated by Hibbett and online at hibbett.com or in the Hibbett app.
So a City Gear card found in a drawer is not dead — it is a Hibbett card now, and it is checked the same way as one.
Checking a balance
Call 1-888-806-1720 with the card number, or take the card to any Hibbett store and ask at the register — the routes Hibbett's own gift card page points to. Both are free. Digital e-gift cards are redeemable online at hibbett.com and in Hibbett retail locations, and the same enquiry covers them.
What the card cannot do
Hibbett gift cards are non-transferable, non-refundable and not redeemable for cash except where state law requires it. That last clause matters more than it sounds: several US states require a retailer to cash out a small remaining balance on request, so a few dollars left after a purchase is worth asking about at the register rather than abandoning.
Sneaker releases and timing
Hibbett is a release destination, and releases are the one situation where knowing your balance in advance genuinely changes the outcome — a launch queue is not the place to discover a card is $12 short. Check the day before, not in the line.
When the number will not read
Take the number from the card rather than a photo of it if the print has worn; read it back slowly to the phone system, which matches digits exactly. A card bought in the last few hours may still be activating. If the card is physically damaged, a store can look it up from the card itself.
A balance that is not going to become shoes
Sports retail cards are given confidently and spent narrowly. If yours is not going to be used, you can sell the balance through FlipGift escrow without reading the number out to anyone: a buyer's payment is held in escrow first, you place their Hibbett order with your own card, and the escrow pays you once it is delivered. Both sides split a flat 2.5% fee, and sellers typically keep 72–88% of face value.
