Patagonia Gift Card Balance — Cards and Credits
Patagonia issues three things that look alike in your hand: a gift card, a merchandise credit and a Patagonia Provisions card. Only two of them can be checked online, and knowing which you hold saves the phone call.
Check Patagonia balance on official siteWhich one are you holding?
- A gift card — bought as a gift, physical or digital.
- A merchandise credit — issued for a return, or through Worn Wear when you trade in used gear.
- A Patagonia Provisions gift card — for the food business, and the odd one out.
The first two are checked the same way. The third cannot be checked online at all: Patagonia asks you to contact customer service, who convert it to a Patagonia gift card. The balance transfers to the new card, which then works at patagonia.com and wornwear.com.
Checking a gift card or merchandise credit
Open Patagonia's help article (linked above), follow the Check Your Balance link at the foot of the gift card page, and enter the card number and PIN. You can also simply apply the card at checkout — the order total drops by whatever is available and the rest goes to your usual payment method.
Worn Wear is its own economy
Trading in used Patagonia gear returns a merchandise credit rather than cash, and that credit behaves like a card here. If your credit came from Worn Wear, check which sites it covers before planning a purchase — the trade-in economy and the main store are connected but not identical, and the help centre is explicit about where each instrument spends.
If the check fails
Confirm you are not holding a Provisions card, which is the single most common reason a Patagonia balance "will not load" — it is not broken, it is a different product. After that: paste digital codes from the email, allow a few hours after purchase for activation, and check that the PIN panel is fully readable.
A zero on a card that should have value
Patagonia gear is bought in large, occasional purchases, so a card usually empties in one go rather than by attrition. Look at the order that used it first. If the card is genuinely untouched, the purchase receipt is what customer service needs.
If the gear is not for you
Outdoor clothing is sizing, climate and use all at once, and a card can easily outlast the plan. On FlipGift you can sell a Patagonia balance through escrow while keeping the card and its number: a buyer's payment is locked in escrow before anything ships, you place their Patagonia order with your own card, and escrow releases your cash on confirmed delivery. Both sides split a flat 2.5% fee, and sellers typically keep 72–88% of face value.
