Sell your Best Buy gift card for cash without handing anyone the number or PIN. You use the card to pay for a buyer's Best Buy order, their money waits in escrow, and it's released to you when the order arrives — typically 72–88% of face value, against the 60–85% buy-back sites pay after taking the code.

Why Best Buy gift cards go unused

Best Buy cards arrive as rewards and gifts, but if you're not buying electronics right now there's nothing to spend them on.

Best Buy orders: the address rule and the $500 card

Best Buy is strict about where an order goes: it doesn't ship to known freight forwarders, and BestBuy.com doesn't ship to Puerto Rico. We've seen the first rule bite — in September 2026 Best Buy cancelled an order a FlipGift seller placed to a package-forwarding address. You see the buyer's city, state and ZIP before you accept and the full address once you do. If Best Buy cancels an order you really placed, don't reorder to another address: report it on the deal with Best Buy's cancellation email, and support settles it.

The card rules that shape a Best Buy deal:

  • You pay on your own BestBuy.com account with the card number and 4-digit PIN — the code never leaves you.
  • No card holds more than $500, and BestBuy.com takes up to 10 gift cards per order. List several cards together as one balance and they can fill a laptop- or TV-sized order.
  • Anything over your cards goes on your saved payment method — but the buyer's discount applies to the whole order, so take orders your cards cover.
  • "E-store credit" that a Best Buy associate issues is a different product from a CashStar e-gift card, with its own terms; check that BestBuy.com accepts it before you list it.
  • Tracking, not the order number. BBY01-… is Best Buy's order number and goes in the order screenshot; the tracking field takes the carrier's number and refuses it.

How to sell your Best Buy card the safe way

  1. List your Best Buy card — brand and balance only, never the code.
  2. A buyer who wants electronics from Best Buy pays for their order into escrow.
  3. You place their order with your card and upload the confirmation and tracking.
  4. When they confirm delivery, escrow pays you.

Frequently asked questions

Do I have to share my Best Buy card number or PIN to sell it?

No. You keep the card and use it to pay for a buyer's Best Buy order yourself — the number and PIN are never typed into any site or handed to anyone.

How much will I get for my Best Buy gift card?

Typically 72–88% of face value: you set the discount, the buyer pays that price into escrow, and you keep it minus a 2.5% seller fee and the 2% withdrawal fee. Buy-back sites usually pay 60–85% and take the code first.

How fast do I get paid for my Best Buy card?

When the buyer confirms their Best Buy order arrived — or automatically about 16 days after it ships if they never respond. You can then withdraw as crypto or a digital prepaid Visa card.

Can I sell a Best Buy gift card instantly?

Not instantly — you're paid when the item you ordered for the buyer arrives. Their payment is already in escrow before you order; it's released when they confirm delivery, or automatically about 16 days after the parcel ships if they never respond and the carrier has scanned it. Instant-cash sites pay faster because they take the card code and keep 15–25% of its value.

Why would Best Buy cancel an order I placed for a buyer?

Usually the address. Best Buy doesn't ship to known freight forwarders, and BestBuy.com doesn't ship to Puerto Rico. The buyer's payment stays in escrow while this is sorted out: report the cancellation on the deal and attach Best Buy's email, rather than reordering to a different address.
