Sell your GameStop gift card for cash without handing anyone the number or PIN. You use the card to pay for a buyer's GameStop order, their money waits in escrow, and it's released to you when the order arrives — typically 72–88% of face value, against the 60–85% buy-back sites pay after taking the code.

Why GameStop gift cards go unused

GameStop cards are a default gift for any household with a gamer — and useless to everyone else.

GameStop gift card, trade credit or PowerUp card?

GameStop's gift card FAQ treats three kinds of GameStop balance almost the same way online, which is good news if yours came from a trade-in:

  • All three pay on GameStop.com. Gift cards, trade credit and PowerUp Rewards cards holding store credit can be spent at GameStop.com and at U.S. GameStop stores.
  • Only with a scratch-off PIN. To use any of them online, the card needs a scratch-off PIN. An older gift card without a 4-digit PIN next to its 19-digit number works only in a store, so it can't fill an order here.
  • Trade credit is a card too. It sits on a trade credit card with its own number and PIN, entered on the payment page like a gift card.
  • Not for other GameStop gift cards or the third-party currency GameStop sells, such as PlayStation Network cards.
  • Keep the order confirmation. GameStop replaces a lost card only against a receipt of a purchase it paid for, and for online use a printout of the order confirmation counts.

How to sell your GameStop card the safe way

  1. List your GameStop card — brand and balance only, never the code.
  2. A buyer who wants games from GameStop pays for their order into escrow.
  3. You place their order with your card and upload the confirmation and tracking.
  4. When they confirm delivery, escrow pays you.

Before you list: check your GameStop balance

GameStop lets you check the balance online, on the issuer’s balance page, and you will need the PIN from the back of the card.

  1. Load the GameStop stored-value page.
  2. Key in the long card number from the front.
  3. Add the PIN hidden under the scratch strip on the reverse.
  4. Confirm to reveal the remaining amount.

Frequently asked questions

Do I have to share my GameStop card number or PIN to sell it?

No. You keep the card and use it to pay for a buyer's GameStop order yourself — the number and PIN are never typed into any site or handed to anyone.

How much will I get for my GameStop gift card?

Typically 72–88% of face value: you set the discount, the buyer pays that price into escrow, and you keep it minus a 2.5% seller fee and the 2% withdrawal fee. Buy-back sites usually pay 60–85% and take the code first.

How fast do I get paid for my GameStop card?

When the buyer confirms their GameStop order arrived — or automatically about 16 days after it ships if they never respond. You can then withdraw as crypto or a digital prepaid Visa card.

Can I sell GameStop trade credit?

GameStop won't cash it out: gift cards, trade cards and PowerUp Rewards cards can't be refunded or redeemed for cash except where the law requires. But trade credit can be spent at GameStop.com if the card has a scratch-off PIN, so here it can pay for a buyer's GameStop.com order like a gift card, and escrow pays you when the order arrives.

Do GameStop gift cards expire?

No. GameStop gift cards don't expire and carry no fees for non-use. To spend one online, including on a buyer's order here, the card needs its 19-digit number and a PIN.
