You enter the full card number, expiry date and CVV, and a hold is placed on the balance before any payout.

How Prepaid2Cash works

Prepaid2Cash turns the balance on a prepaid Visa, Mastercard, American Express or Discover card into a bank deposit. You verify your identity in the app, enter the card's number, expiry date, CVV and the amount to cash out, and see the net payout before you submit.

When you submit, Prepaid2Cash places an authorization hold on the card for that amount, so the money is locked while it reviews the transaction — usually quickly, but up to 24 hours if it's flagged. Once approved, it sends an ACH deposit to your own bank account, arriving the next business day. The fee is 10% plus $1.50: a $100 card pays $88.50.

It no longer buys store gift cards — that side was paused in 2023 — and it doesn't take reloadable, government, insurance or transit cards. Prepaid2Cash Holdings, Inc. is a Delaware company based in Birmingham, Alabama, launched in 2016 and venture-backed.

What changed: fees, instant payout and store cards

Older reviews — including ours — quoted a fee of 7.5–15% plus $1.50 and an instant payout option. Both are out of date. Prepaid2Cash's fee article now lists 10% plus $1.50 for next-business-day ACH as the only live option; the 15% instant tier is marked "Temporarily Unavailable", and support told the BBB in April 2025 that the app no longer offers instant payout. BBB complaint records from 2025 and 2026 show the math exactly: a $100 card paid $88.50, a $500 card $448.50. The 7.5% figure survives only on an old, unlinked FAQ page from its early years.

Store gift cards went in 2023. The current help center lists only network-branded prepaid cards, although some of the company's own marketing still mentions retail brands.

What happens when you submit a card

Prepaid2Cash places an authorization hold on the card for the amount you enter. That protects the transaction — nobody can spend the balance while it's reviewed — but it's also behind many angry reviews: if the transaction is rejected, the money stays held until the card issuer releases it, which the company has put at several business days. Rejections come without a reason, by policy.

After payout, the terms let Prepaid2Cash debit your bank account if the card is later disputed, and they route disputes to binding arbitration with liability capped at $100.

The picture is better than most cash-out services: most reviewers report a smooth cash-out. The complaints cluster where the model is least transparent — unexplained rejections, holds after a rejection, and accounts disabled for suspected fraud with no reactivation.

Two trust signals that don't match

  • BBB status. The homepage calls Prepaid2Cash "BBB certified" and shows an accredited badge; the BBB profile says it is not accredited.
  • Bank partner. The help center names Evolve Bank & Trust, while the homepage and terms name Global Innovations Bank — possibly a change of partner the help center hasn't caught up with.

Support is by email only, on weekdays, with a stated 24–48 hour response time.

Holding a store gift card instead?

Prepaid2Cash can't help with a Target, Best Buy or Home Depot card any more. On FlipGift you keep a store card and use it to pay for a buyer's pre-paid order at that store; escrow releases the money when they confirm delivery, and sellers typically net 72–88% of face value. What escrow can't do is take a prepaid Visa or Mastercard — see every option for those and the Prepaid2Cash alternative comparison.

What reviewers report

Themes paraphrased from public Trustpilot reviews, checked October 2026.

Transactions rejected without a reason
Reviewers describe cards declined with no explanation — and Prepaid2Cash says it never discloses why, telling reviewers it can't accept every account or transaction.
Money stuck on the card after a rejection
The authorization hold outlives a rejection: the card issuer releases it, which the company has put at several business days.
Accounts disabled with no appeal
Users whose accounts are flagged for suspected fraud report no details and no route to reactivation.
Slower payouts than promised
Recent reviews describe funds arriving later than the next business day, and a September 2026 processing outage without an estimated fix.

Frequently asked questions

Is Prepaid2Cash legit?

Yes. Prepaid2Cash Holdings, Inc. is a venture-backed company based in Birmingham, Alabama that has operated since 2016. It is rated 4.0 on Trustpilot from 1,136 reviews (October 2026) and B+ by the BBB (not accredited). Most complaints are about rejected transactions, holds left on cards and disabled accounts.

How much does Prepaid2Cash charge?

10% of the amount plus a $1.50 delivery fee per card, paid by next-business-day ACH. A $100 card pays $88.50 and a $500 card $448.50. The faster option at 15% plus $1.50 is marked temporarily unavailable.

How long does Prepaid2Cash take?

The next business day by ACH if you submit before the daily cut-off, plus up to 24 hours if the transaction is flagged for review. Payouts don't move on weekends or bank holidays.

What cards does Prepaid2Cash accept?

Non-reloadable prepaid cards with a Visa, Mastercard, American Express or Discover logo — Visa and Mastercard gift cards, Vanilla, Amex gift cards, rebate and payroll cards, and virtual prepaid cards (those need an ownership screenshot). The limits are $20 minimum and $1,000 per 24 hours.

Does Prepaid2Cash take store gift cards?

Not currently. It paused retailer gift cards in 2023 and its help center now lists only network-branded prepaid cards. For a store card — Target, Best Buy, Home Depot and the like — FlipGift lets you sell the card's value through escrow without sharing the code.

Why did Prepaid2Cash reject my card?

Prepaid2Cash doesn't disclose rejection reasons. Its help center points to card programs it doesn't accept, a balance lower than the amount you entered, and identity checks. After a rejection, the hold on your card is released by the card issuer, which can take several business days.

Why is Prepaid2Cash asking how I got my card?

Its terms allow it to request additional information to validate a prepaid card or confirm your identity, and cards linked to theft can lead to holds, reversals and account closure. Answering accurately — and keeping the purchase receipt — is the quickest way through.

Is Prepaid2Cash BBB accredited?

No. Its homepage calls it "BBB certified", but the BBB lists Prepaid2Cash Holdings as not accredited, with a B+ rating and 34 complaints in the last three years (September 2026).

Prefer not to hand over your code and hope?

FlipGift removes the step where Prepaid2Cash and every other buyout site put you at risk: in an escrow deal the seller keeps their card and redeems it personally, so no card code ever changes hands. We held ourselves to that standard too — we retired our own swap product on July 23, 2026, because any trade where the code changes hands can't be made fully safe. One limit to know: escrow works with store gift cards. A prepaid Visa, Mastercard or Amex card isn’t tied to a store, so there is no order to fill with it — for those, an app like this one is the usual route.
