Delta Air Lines gift card: fly for less, or sell it for cash
Updated September 23, 2026 · Reviewed by Kirill Novikov, FlipGift founder
A Delta gift card is redeemed on delta.com at checkout for any passenger name — Delta lets a booking be paid with up to three gift cards, and the ticket is issued to the passenger, not to the account that paid. The seller enters your name exactly as on your ID, your date of birth and gender (Delta cannot ticket without them), puts your email and phone on the reservation as the passenger contact, and pays with the card. The e-ticket receipt goes to your email; the seller keeps nothing but the confirmation number to type into the deal.
Verifying a Delta Air Lines booking made for you
On delta.com or in the Fly Delta app open My Trips and enter the confirmation number with your last name. The itinerary should show your name as the passenger, your dates and route, and a ticket number — a ticketed reservation, not a held one. The same receipt lands in your inbox within minutes of ticketing.
Cancellation, and why the payout waits for the trip
Delta refunds any ticket cancelled within 24 hours of purchase, and Main Cabin and above can be cancelled later for an eCredit — both of which go back to whoever paid, which is the seller's card. Basic Economy cannot be cancelled after the 24 hours at all. That is exactly why the seller's payout is held until the day after your departure: only once you have flown can nobody undo the booking.
What a Delta gift card is worth here
Delta gift cards list here at roughly 8–15% off face value. A $400 fare at 12% off costs you about $362 including the platform fee. Typical bookings: a domestic round trip, a one-way to visit family, a last-minute Main Cabin seat priced on delta.com. Fares and rooms reprice by the hour: up to 5% over the total you saw is the seller's to absorb, more comes back to you to approve. The fee mechanics — 2.5% platform fee, how the discount is matched — are on the travel hub.
Booking Delta Air Lines for less
Price the fare on Delta Air Lines's site and post it on the booking form with every passenger exactly as on ID — date of birth and gender included, the airline cannot ticket without them — the route, the dates and the total. A seller with the card accepts within the hour of opening it and books within two; you pay from your FlipGift balance when they accept, look the ticket up under your name, and the seller is paid the day after you fly.
Selling a Delta gift card
Delta cards have no expiry and no fees, so sellers hold them in large amounts — $250 to $1,000 is common. List the balance and your discount; a matched buyer's trip is the fare on delta.com, and you book it with the card in their name. A paid request gives you an hour from opening it to accept and two to book; the payout waits until the day after the passenger flies, and cancelling a ticket you booked for a buyer ends an account here.
